SnapMark Local — Privacy Policy

SnapMark Local captures and annotates screenshots entirely on your device. The extension has no server, no analytics, no accounts, and makes zero network requests.

What data the extension handles

• Screenshots you take. Captured images are held temporarily in your browser's extension storage (chrome.storage.session, or chrome.storage.local as a fallback) only to hand the image from the capture step to the editor tab. They never leave your device. Exported PNG files are saved wherever you choose.
• A usage counter. A single number (captures used this month) is stored in chrome.storage.local to implement the free monthly allowance. It contains no personal information.

What the extension does NOT do

• No data is transmitted to us or to any third party. The extension's Content Security Policy (connect-src 'none') blocks outbound requests from extension pages at the platform level.
• No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or fingerprinting.
• No accounts, no login, no cookies.
• No reading of page content. The extension only draws a selection overlay when you start a region capture, and removes it immediately afterwards.

Permissions

• activeTab — grants temporary access to the current tab only when you click the toolbar icon or press the capture shortcut, so the visible page can be captured. No blanket host access is requested.
• scripting — injects the (self-removing) region-selection overlay into the current tab when you start a region capture.
• storage — stores the captured image hand-off and the monthly usage counter locally.

Changes

If a future version adds optional paid upgrades, payment processing would be handled by a third-party payment provider and this policy will be updated before release.
